Greetings, internaut.
I’m Alejandro (though I would highly prefer to be referred as Lîf), a game programmer and developer hailing from the vibrant lands of Mexico. With a passion for crafting immersive experiences and pushing the boundaries of interactive entertainment, I’ve dedicated my life to the art and science of game development.
Professional Focus
I specialize in game programming, with a strong emphasis on game mechanics, AI development, tool development, and architecture design. My proficiency spans across multiple languages, including C#, Java, and C/C++, with a sprinkling of JavaScript. My engine of choice is Unity, though I’m also experienced with Unreal Engine, Godot, GB Studio, Stencyl, and various frameworks like Processing.
Background
I grew up in Mexico and pursued a bachelor’s degree in Serious Games & Game Development at Universidad Cuauhtémoc in Querétaro, graduating in 2019. This academic journey laid the foundation for my career, and I’ve been coding, designing, and creating ever since.
Hobbies & Interests
When I’m not coding, you’ll find me indulging in a variety of hobbies: playing video games, reading, nurturing bonsais, playing soccer, practicing calisthenics, drumming, dabbling in pixel art and 3D modeling, and recently, restoring and preserving retro gaming hardware.
Philosophy
I’m driven by a deep curiosity about how things work—whether it’s a complex game engine or a simple mechanic, I’m fascinated by the intricate details that make up the whole. My approach isn’t about reinventing the wheel but understanding why it’s built the way it is and how it can be improved or adapted for new challenges.
The Journey:
My love for game development ignited when I watched a documentary about the making of Metal Gear Solid 4. The sight of a debugging screen teeming with numbers and data behind the scenes captivated me. I realized then that beneath the polished surface of every game lies a world of code, logic, and design—each element contributing to the final masterpiece. This revelation set me on a path that has led to a fulfilling career in game development.
Future Aspirations:
Looking ahead, my goal is to leave a meaningful footprint in the industry, sharing knowledge and insights with aspiring developers. I’m particularly excited about diving deeper into console development, especially for Nintendo platforms—both old and new. I have some exciting projects on the horizon, including two games for the NES and Game Boy (and maybe Game Boy Color too)!
What You’ll Find Here:
On this site, you’ll discover a blend of technical tutorials, personal insights, and a behind-the-scenes look at my ongoing projects. My aim is to make complex concepts accessible and to inspire others to explore the technical side of game development, all while creating a welcoming space for newcomers.
